Breathmobile? Fund Donation: The Breathmobile? is a 34-foot mobile asthma clinic on wheels that will visit schools and assess children identified to be at high risk for asthma and allergic diseases. It is a community-based preventive healthcare program comprised of many partners, including AAFA MD-DC, Baltimore City Public Schools, the Baltimore City Health Department, University of Maryland Medical Center, Howard University Medical Center and the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. These partners will work together to provide evaluation, treatment and education to inner city children with asthma and their families at their schools in Baltimore City and to public housing residents in Washington, D.C.

AAFA MD-DC’s Breathmobile? will be modeled after the successful Southern California Chapter’s Mobile Asthma Clinic, modified to serve Baltimore City and Greater Washington, D.C. In Los Angeles, the Breathmobile? has seen hundreds of children since it began five years ago with rewarding, measurable outcomes.
We now are fundraising to take our Breathmobile? plans off the blueprints and out onto the streets. Our goal is to begin serving the community during the 2001 school year. Our children need our help. The Breathmobile? intends to deliver it and, with your contribution, it will.
