The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Maryland Chapter (AAFA-MD), will send an attractive holiday greeting card to your friends, relatives, neighbors, clients and business associates this holiday season when a donation is made in their name. Each gift to the Foundation of $5 or more per person will be acknowledged by a special holiday greeting card letting the recipient know of your generosity on their behalf. Each card will be addressed and mailed for the donor, saving precious time during this very busy time of the year.
Asthma and allergies strike one in six Americans. Asthma is the leading cause of childhood trips to hospital emergency rooms and is also the leading cause of school absenteeism. Asthma, which can be triggered by an allergic reaction, is the cause of over 5,000 deaths a year, with these deaths increasing steadily each year. Combined, asthma and allergies cause 12.4 million lost workdays in the United States.
All proceeds from the holiday card donations will directly benefit the many people throughout the state of Maryland who suffer from asthma and allergic diseases. AAFA-MD sponsors research grants, patient assistance, physician referrals, a childcare provider course, statewide support groups, Asthma Care Training for Kids (ACT), college and camp scholarships, patient and public education, school health programs, and offers a speaker’s bureau and a lending library.
