The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company is recalling the 28 oz. Orange Pound Cake, which is distributed by Dawn Food Products, Inc. located in Jackson, Michigan and sold under the Stop & Shop label as a Bake Shop item, because it may contain undeclared pecans. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to pecans run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The cakes were withdrawn from sale in all Stop & Shop Supermarkets.
The Orange Pound Cake was sold under the Stop & Shop label as a Bake Shop item in our Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island stores The product is 28 oz., packaged in a clear plastic container and located in the In-Store Bakery in a self service case. The UPC code is 002000-039554.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Orange Pound Cake containing pecans was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of pecans. No illnesses have been reported to date.
